A VERY PACKED LUNCH INDEED!

Well another week has gone by. Where does the time go?

A very packed show this week as I was joined by Dorothy Slevin who is a local singer, songwriter and poet. Dorothy, who is also known as Stephanie, suffered from serious abuse as a child but by shear strength of will has at last been able to come to terms with her past and is determined to help others who have suffered from a similar fate. Dorothy has always used poetry as a means of expressing her feelings  but has now discovered a talent for putting the poetry to music. Being able to sing as well is an extra bonus and we were treated to a couple of her songs today, and we learnt that more are “in the pipeline”.

Dorothy was the name given to her by her Grandmother, but Stephanie is her preferred name. What is quite amazing is that Dorothy is now a mother in her own right with 6 children to her credit!

Apart from singing publicly, anyone wanting to listen to her songs can go to YOU TUBE and type in STEPHANIE SLEVIN. Her own website is www.myweakenedsoul.com.

My interview with Dorothy/Stephanie can be found here: -[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Dorothy-Slevin1.mp3|titles=Dorothy Slevin]

Later in the show, in our historical feature, BRENTWOOD & BILLERICAY BYGONES, Frances Clamp revealed the history of the BARDSWELL SOCIAL CLUB, which was founded in BRENTWOOD by local trades unionists working on the railway. You can hear her contribution again here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Bygones-8th-Nov.mp3|titles=Bygones 8th Nov]

Well that’s it for another week. Keep safe and keep listening to PHOENIX 98FM.

All the best,

Scott
