Introduction to the Jumbo Captain

The First Commodore Night – Sunday 6th November 2011

What a terrific first night we had!  Literally tens of people on the chatroom and to quote one giddy listener “phoenix is nice”.  Brentwood has never had some much synth since Vince Clarke passed through on his way to london, maybe.

BADLOADER helmed the proceedings (AKA The Jumbo Captain) and “what a slick first time it was” he is quoted to have said, during and after the show.  Surely no one can deny that.  Again, he is quoted having said.

The mix was as refreshing as vintage champagne being pumped into your private pool on mullholland drive whilst you clean your hands and face with a KFC fresh wipe having finished off another specially imported bucket from the colonel himself.  And that’s got to be the freshest you’ve felt this side of Christmas.

In our playlist this week we had all manner of instruments covered, from eucalyptus wood didgeridoos, western xylophones, Roland Juno 60s, ARP 2600s and Linndrum vintage drum machines. Parts of the night slipped into desolating reverb and whispered lyrics, parts acended to rippling harps and heaven tinted cymbals crashes above a poly rhythmic dual synth pulse.  Yes future listeners, things are getting proper flimsy.

Tracklist below.
