Sue from ‘Mitbits,’ Stress & Anxiety and Bardswell Social Club

Monday 31st October & Tuesday 1st November

This week on Drive I decided to have a theme of stress and anxiety as this can be an anxious and busy time of year and SADs (Seasonal Affective Disorder) affects so many people. I explained what stress is and who can be affected. I also spoke about anxiety and shed light on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which can be caused by frequent, unwanted, obsessive thoughts and results in an act or ritual, called a compulsion as the result of a thought. If you would be happy to come onto drive to speak about an experience you’ve had with a mental health issue please email me gabriella@mindhealthmovement.com as I feel passionate about raising awareness on the mental health. I also shared Nutritional advice and therapy for stress, anxiety and sleep disorders. If you would like to find out my recommendations please contact me via www.mindhealthmovement.com

I also covered daily weather, national news headlines and local news stories.

Wednesday 2nd November

Sue from Mitbits came in to speak about how her passion for craft and creating became a full-time carer. I really appreciated Sue sharing her story of her redundancy 2 years ago, and how a bad event, turned into a positive turning point for Sue. Mitbits is the name of her craft gift company and you can find her at The Ingrave Market from 9:30am-12:30pm every first Sunday of each month. She makes sock monkeys and other animals on request. Sue also makes other items such as broaches, one of which she brought into Phoenix as a present for me and as you can see it is a ginger bread man, which is where the idea of my logo came from! Fluke?! Sue’s new website is www.mitbits.com and you can contact her on 077 90222 921 or email sue@suelough.plus.com. More about the Ingrave Market can be found via https://ingravecommunitymarket.blogspot.com/

Listen again Gabriella Clarke speaking with Sue from Mitbits

I also shared a couple of stories from the local newspaper and gave the ingredients and cooking instructions for a warming and seasonal Wild Duck and Pomegranate Stew.

Thursday 3rd November

I shared some important stretches for those that find a large proportion of their day is spent sitting due to work arrangements, driving and just the modern day life-style in general. I also explained why stretching every day is vital due to a lot of repetitive movements that are now a huge contributing factor to pain and inflammation in the body. If you want to ask me in more detail about this please email me or join my page on facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Mind-Health-Movement-Mindful2move/124280340988841

Friday 4th November

Cllr William Lloyd joined in the studio for a chat about Bardswell Social Club (just off of the Weald Road, here in Brentwood). Any adult can become a member and I think its a wonderful way of uniting the community and having somewhere to go without needing to find someone to go with or arranging to meet someone there. Just turn up and evening and be around other people whilst you unwind from the day. You can also hire the recently refurbished function room. Will also told me about other events coming up in November and December that he is involved with and how he came out of school and ended up working full-time as a councillor – and he’s younger than me!
