Bonjour – Another wild and weather wallowing week has past, and not to mention the news press frolics…..enough said there.

Twofers this week, looked at a band who I’ve had wanted to see live but had missed the chance at every shot. We played two from The White Lies: ‘A place to hide’ and a remix version of ‘Is this love’ .

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Ed Byrne and Jon Richardson — Comedy Store – 11th July 2011

Ed Byrne and Jon Richardson will be performing at the Comedy Store’s “Kids Co Show”. Other comedians on the bill include Adam Bloom, Josh Howie and Terry Alderton.

Dylan Moran, at the Hammersmith Apollo – 14th – 16th July 2011

Ageing, religion, kids, and the absurdities of life… searing observations painted across a large fraying canvas with cruel, curmudgeonly brush strokes, delivered by a man seemingly teetering on the brink. Dylan Moran has appeared in “Black Books”, “Shaun of the Dead” and “Run Fat Boy Run”.

Barry Cryer, at the E4 Udderbelly – 17th July 2011

Barry Cryer been telling jokes since the dawn of time, writing gags for Morecombe and Wise, Tommy Cooper and The Two Ronnies …not forgetting Kenny Everett, Richard Pryor and Frankie Howard. Now you can enjoy him sitting down and having a good ‘ol chat about the first thing that comes into his head –at the Southbank

Live music pick for this week;

Mon 11 Jul

Foo Fighters – Roundhouse, London

From the ashes of Nirvana came this goofy American rock monster fronted by Dave Grohl. They embrace a successful formula of relentlessly touring and producing an endless supply of rock smash hits.

Tue 12 Jul

Avi Buffalo – Koko, London

Avi Buffalo is a Californian indie-pop band fronted by Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist. Their 2010 self-titled debut album demonstrated their knack for creating delicate sun-baked pop songs that hint at early Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel, Modest Mouse and The Shins, complete with lush guitars, layered harmonies, wonky pianos and crackpot energy.

Wed 13 Jul

The Black Crowes – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London

Classic rock band from Georgia with a massive fanbase across the world. The American band have been predominately influenced by the swagger of the Rolling Stones during their long career and are considered a mammoth rock beast when they go out on tour

Wed 13 Jul

White Lies – Roundhouse, London

Parading their new LP ‘Ritual’ – Their music is surprisingly accomplished for such a young band and is layered with anthemic synths, which has already seen them draw comparisons with The Killers.

The Saturday Breakfast show – ‘be involved!!!’

If you are in a Band/Artist local to Brentwood & Billericay or a locally based Comic, then I’d love to hear from you!…….

If you want to be considered as a guest for the Saturday Breakfast show- Then email: rob@phoenixfm.com
