‘Top 5 Films of the 80s’ – The Tom Walker Show

Whoop to Sundays – my new slot 4 – 6 of your pm. This is ideal as it mean I miss out on any Sunday roast based work, furniture shopping or pointless Sunday exercise.

For my first Sunday show I decided to enter into a rigorous celebration of quite an uncool decade the 1980s Anno Domini. But the 80s made some of the best films ever – frat pack, commedies, horror…I admit the 80s were also responsible for some rubbish films too, so rubbish in fact – they were good (ie. Karate Kid/Commando).

Took the chance to celebrate the 80s musically too…

Glenn Fry – The Heat is On (Beverly Hills Cop)
A Team Theme Tune
Wham – Jitterbug
Alison Moyet – Love Resurrection
Duran Duran – Wild Boys
Queen – Another One Bites the Dust
MJ – Thriller
Madonna – Holiday
Elton John – I’m still standing
Adam and the Ants – Prince Charming
ABC – Shoot that Poison Arrow
Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes – (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life
The Cure – Boys Don’t Cry
Record of the Week – * Aloe Blacc – I need a Dollar (Not 80s but tres bon)
Survivor – Eye of the Tiger
Spandau Ballet – Gold
Bowie – The Magic Dance
Hall and Oats – Maneater
Huey Lewis and the News – Hip to be Square
Frankie goes to Hollywood – Two Tribes

So here it is – Tom’s Top 5 Films of the 80s…

1. Ghostbusters
2. This is Spinal Tap
3. Withnail and I
4. Rocky III
5. Labrynth

Thanks for all your fine suggestions – but I must re-iterate that this is a family show. Preditor in the top 5 would have caused an uproar.

Chow.

PS Walkerettes, I have changed my twitter ID to @thfwalker. Get following. I love technology and all that.
