Welcome to Sunny Feb, with lots of hot new band news …

Twas quite a lively show for this first weekend of Fabulous Feb. Joining me was Lee Mayer from the band Weirdgear…….We chewed the cud on life, socail networking and the local music scene; particularly about electonic influeance bands.

Local Electronic Bands Mentioned by Lee, was as follow’s: –
Stuart Russell. Giant Turtle. BASIC. Bearcraft. Little Penguin. Rainbow Valley. Hybernation. The Vanity Clause. Protege Reign. The Low Behold. Hillmisters. Beatglider. Plantman. Hottwerk Records. Scratch Infected. Art Gruppe. PlusPlus. The Tumbledryer Babies. Ten Tigers. Lost Harbours. Kostoglotov. Gyratory System.
and of course…WeirdGear were spoke of.
Gigs mentioned were: –
~ Culture as a Dare @ The Railway, Southend w/ The Lovely Eggs, Plantman, The Tumbledryer Babies.
~ Stuart Russell – Music in Quad @Slackspace, Colchester.

In my Comedy Picks Russell Howard’s ‘Right Here, Right Now’ – Starts from 19th ‘ 20th February 2011. Russell Howard, star of TV’s ‘Good News’ and ‘Mock The Week’, hits the road with a brand new tour called ‘Right Here, Right Now’ ‘ which promises to be his biggest and best to date – catch him at the O2 Arena.

My little Live music selection for the show was;

Tue 08 Feb. David McAlmont – Leicester Square Theatre, London.A gig from David McAlmont, who is possibly best known for his various music collaborations, in particular the very popular McAlmont and Butler and his work with David Arnold.

Tue 08 Feb. The Bravery – Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London.Art-rockers from New York fronted by the aggressively sexy Sam Endicott. The American hipsters are profoundly influenced by the New Wave movement of the early eighties and became a cult music fan’s favourite when The Killers were enjoying their purple patch in 2005.

Wed 09 Feb. The Mystery Jets – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.English five piece from Twickenham with an indie rock’n’roll aesthetic. The band regularly get name checked in the NME and are considered to be future festival favourites.

Thu/Fri 10/11 Feb. White Lies – O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. A promising London three-piece with quirky melodic choruses. Their music is surprisingly accomplished for such a young band and is layered with anthemic synths, which has already seen them draw comparisons with The Killers.Fri/Sat 11/12 Feb.

My Chemical Romance – Wembley Arena, Wildly successful emo-punk band led by the charismatic Gerard Way.
Twofers this week, was two tracks from the White Lies, as I will be seeing them this week.
