Playlist – 6 January 2011 (AOTW British Sea Power – Valhalla Dancehall)

New year, new feature: ALBUM OF THE WEEK. I don’t think any radio show has ever done this before.

This all came about from discussions on Another Place On The Internet, where people were bemoaning the lack of quality albums in 2010. I would agree with this but I don’t know if it’s because I just wasn’t searching any out, so I’m going to force myself to listen to AT LEAST 52 NEW ALBUMS this year to find out.

The first one is a very easy choice indeed.

Been looking forward to this one for a while. Avoided the single, Living Is So Easy, and played Stunde Null, Mongk II and the less-excitingly-named Cleaning Out The Rooms instead. It’s out on 10 January.

Tonight’s playlist:

Sweet Billy Pilgrim – Future Perfect Tense
Vaccines – Post Break Up Sex
Sleater-Kinney – You’re No Rock N’ Roll Fun
British Sea Power – Stunde Null
Sleeper – Inbetweener
Toasted Heretic – Galway and Los Angeles
Sultans Of Ping FC – Michiko
Everything Everything – Photoshop Handsome (Entrepreneurs Socratic-Suplex remix)
Fall – Theme From Sparta FC
Alice Gold – Orbiter
Le Corps Mince de Francoise – Gandhi
Vile Electrodes – Empire Of Wolves
Lovely Eggs – I Like Birds But I Like Other Animals Too
B-52’s – Dry County
Y Niwl – Tri
British Sea Power – Mongk II
Divine Comedy – Sweden
Mogwai – Mexican Grand Prix
Crystal Fighters – Follow
Videotapes – Postcard
British Sea Power – Cleaning Out The Rooms
Bozwood – (Murder At) Fresh And Wild
Cling – Spirit
Erland and the Carnival – Trouble In Mind
Frank and Walters – Plenty Times
Midway Still – Your Last Mistake
Ringo Deathstar – Imagine Hearts
Power Of Dreams – 1989
